When you run a scan, The Digital Doctor processes the website address you provide and reads publicly available information from that website. I do not log in to, modify or gain private access to the website.

If you provide your name or email address, I use it to deliver your scan, respond to your enquiry and keep an audit trail of the service requested. I do not add you to an automatic newsletter or sell your information.

Cookies and visitor measurement. This site uses three measurement tools: Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages people arrive on, and the TikTok and Meta pixels, so I can tell whether advertising on TikTok, Facebook or Instagram actually brings anyone. All three set cookies in your browser, and none of them loads unless you agreed when you were asked. If you said no, nothing is loaded and nothing is sent — not from your browser and not from my server. They are not switched to a quieter setting, they are simply not there.

None of them is told the private part of any address. If you open a report link or a checkout page, Google is told that a page of that kind was viewed and never the code in the link, and TikTok and Meta are not told about those pages at all. Your IP address is anonymised for Google and is never sent to TikTok or Meta. The admin console is not measured by any of them.

What TikTok and Meta are told, if you agreed. When you run a scan, start a checkout or complete a payment, each is sent the fact that it happened, the amount where money was involved, and — so it can recognise its own advert — the click identifier from the advert you arrived through, along with your email address scrambled into a fixed-length code before it leaves this site. Neither ever receives your email address, your name or your website address in a readable form, and neither ever receives your IP address. Some of this is sent from my server rather than your browser, which is why saying no switches off both.

Where it goes. TikTok and Meta both process this outside South Africa. Under POPIA that is a cross-border transfer, and you are agreeing to it when you accept measurement cookies. You can withdraw at any time using the button below, which also deletes the identifiers all three tools stored. Withdrawing stops anything further being sent; it cannot recall what was already sent, and each company’s own privacy policy — TikTok’s and Meta’s — governs what they do with it afterwards.
